In anticipation of the end of the world, 25 people lock themselves up in a house in Colombia

In anticipation of the end of the world next Thursday, 25 people are locked in a house in a rural town in northern Colombia and, led by a religious pastor, said it will be the second arrival of Jesus Christ on this day.

The 25 people are part of three families living in the Colombian city of Barranquilla who have traveled 50 kilometers for two weeks while awaiting “final judgment” in Isabel López, a town in the Caribbean department of Atlántico.

Pastor Gabriel Alberto Ferrer Ruíz, who heads the group of parishioners, was a professor at the Universidad del Atlántico until December last year, a position he resigned.

In his letter of resignation, the teacher says he did this irrevocably “by a direct command that the Almighty Lord gave me.”

“The power of the resurrection of Christ is about to manifest in those who died believing on Him, and eternal life will be manifested, the victory over death that has afflicted man during these six thousand years of overcoming it. Earth, upon which weighs the curse of sin, ”Ferrer expressed in his letter of resignation as professor of linguistics.

Like Father Gabriel Ferrer, who followed the instructions he gave them, the other believers quit their jobs and sold all their belongings because “they will no longer need these material goods.”

A few days ago, the residents of Isabel López warned the authorities about the three families arriving at the end of December and living in the house where they placed a sign counting down the days needed for “the second arrival of Christ”. .

Police authorities and the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF) were present at the site due to the possibility that the rights of minors who make up the three families have been violated.

In this regard, the Commander of the Atlantic Police, Colonel Hugo Molano, told the media that the police for children and adolescents had visited the site in response to the community’s complaint that the children were being subjected to fasting.

“What we found there were three families. They say no one is obligated, but the three families live there and it is the place where other people listen to them,” noted Colonel Molano.

After the inspection, the authorities felt that the religious community was not violating any norms and allowed them to stay together in compliance with the freedom of worship enshrined in the Colombian constitution.

Jorge Manotas, Mayor of Sabanalarga, the municipality of which Isabel López is a part, announced that they will closely monitor this religious community as there are concerns about the outcome of the situation.
