Nolan Arenado trading is discussed by Cardinals, Rockies – The Athletic

The Cardinals are in talks with the Rockies about a deal that would bring the five-time All-Star third baseman to St. Louis, according to Major League sources. No deal seems close and the other players that may be involved are unknown.

29-year-old Arenado would likely waive his no-trade clause to join the Cardinals, and might agree to push back his right to opt out after the 2021 season. To escape its $ 199 million guarantee for the next six seasons, the Rockies would almost certainly absorb at least one high-priced veteran of the Cardinals while also getting chances in the deal.
