Durham County’s Department of Public Health announced on Thursday that it will temporarily close schedule for vaccine appointments due to limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, effective immediately.
The public health department will also not add new vaccination dates to its online booking site until a later date to be determined.
At this time, no currently scheduled vaccination appointments will be canceled or delayed, although some appointments will be moved from the Durham Health Department site to the Southern High School site starting Monday, Feb. 1. Individuals whose appointments need to be moved to Southern High School will be contacted by phone or email.
“We are very grateful that we do not have to cancel any ongoing appointments, but as Secretary Cohen explained to the public earlier this week at her press conference, the unfortunate reality is that demand far exceeds supply,” said health director Rod Jenkins. . “Durham County has a baseline allocation of 600 first doses for the next three weeks, and we are not sure when our allocation will increase.
