Love Island USA is extended with a third season: ‘We say Aloha to Hawaii’

Fans of the American version of Love Island can breathe a sigh of relief after the series has been extended by CBS for a third season.

Love Island USA’s Instagram account shared the news on Wednesday with a fake text message announcing the extension.

“I GOT A TEXT … Love Island is BACK for Season 3 and this time we’re saying aloha to Hawaii,” the caption read.

The image featured a Google Maps image zooming in on Hawaii, although it wasn’t clear where exactly in the island state the show would take place as the island labeled ‘Love Island’ doesn’t exist.

“Season 3 is coming,” read the fake text seemingly sent by CBS that added the hashtags “#Aloha”, “#BackOnIslandTime” and “#ItsTheNewSeasonForMe.”

The extension was also announced by CBS ‘Senior Executive Vice President for Programming, Thom Sherman, at the network’s press event.

So far, no cast members for the upcoming season have been revealed and no premiere date has been announced.

The first season of the US version of the popular British reality competition took place in Fiji, but season two had to move into The Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas, as the competitors were all quarantined during the coronavirus pandemic.

CBS seems to be betting they can safely set up the show in a more convenient venue this time, even though current estimates are that the US may not be able to achieve immunity to herds through vaccinations until well into the fall.

The sometimes shapeless series follows a group of attractive singles who are forced to compete for the prize money by joining other contestants.

However, they are periodically forced to recover and anyone left without a partner is removed from the series.

American actress Arielle Vandenberg hosted the first two seasons of Love Island USA and chaired the elimination ceremonies.

It was not announced if she would be back, but she has reposted the renewal announcement on her Insta Stories.
