Home letters frustrate homeowners in the Silverado Ranch community

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – A $ 2,000 home paint job during a pandemic can be a big savings on your budget. Just ask several homeowners who live in a Silverado Ranch community.

They are upset about a letter from their property manager asking them to paint their house or they will be fined.

“I was shocked. I was shocked that it was a ten-day compliance letter.”

Mary Koos has lived in the Silverado Place community for over ten years and says that as a homeowner, she has always followed the rules.

She was stunned when she received a letter asking her to paint her house or she might be fined. The letter states that she must respond within ten days.

Koos says other neighbors have received the same letter and they are all struggling with finances as many of them lost their jobs during the pandemic.

“How are we going to budget for this now that my husband is unemployed,” she said.

Koos says the board members of the homeowners association are trying to help her and were unaware that the letters were initially sent. She estimates that a new paint job would cost between $ 1,500 and $ 2,000.

It’s an investment she says she can’t afford right now.

“By painting our house, we would lose all our emergency funds and we would have nothing,” she said.

A real estate manager at Nevada’s Finest Properties says that about 30 homes have received the letters.

She says the community as a whole has noted that it was time to paint their homes before then.

The letters were then sent separately if it had not already been stated that it was the homeowner’s responsibility.

She says no one will be forced to paint their house on short notice and gives an extension from six months to a year.

Koos says that there could have been better communication from the property management about the cooperation with them.

“I think a follow-up letter saying they are willing to work with them and give them a year would certainly help our community,” she said.

Ultimately, Koos received a one-year extension from the property managers when painting her house.
