The minister of Foreign relations of HondurasLisandro Rosales, this Tuesday, lamented the death of Colombian Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo as a result of Covid-19, describing him as a man of “dialogue and consensus”.
“Rest in peace my good friend @CarlosHolmesTru, lawyer, diplomat and above all a man of dialogue and consensus. Colombia is losing a great son!” Rosales said in a post on Twitter.

The Colombian minister has died today in Bogotá at the age of 69 of complications in his health from the corona virus, Colombia’s president, Iván Duque, said.
Trujillo, who was also Chancellor for the first 15 months of the government under Duque’s chairmanship, had tested positive for Covid-19 last January 12 in Barranquilla, two days after leading a security council in the neighboring town of Santa Marta.
That same day, he was quarantined and, while continuing his duties, went to a clinic in Barranquilla, from where he was transferred on January 14 to the Central Military Hospital in Bogotá, where he died at 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Honduran Foreign Minister said on January 19 “praying for a speedy recovery” from the good friend @CarlosHolmesTru “ after learning that he had tested positive for the disease.
Colombians, with deep pain and sorrow I have received the news of the death of our Defense Secretary, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, President Duque said in a statement to the country.
Trujillo has also served as Secretary of Education, the Interior, External Relations and Defense in several governments.
