Yankees sacrifice top trading prospects for Jameson Taillon

To exchange for right-handed Jameson Taillon with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Yankees had to divest and give a pack of Top prospects in return that were part of his farm.

For the starting 29-year-old right arm, the New York board released the Latino starting pitchers: Miguel Yajure, a 22-year-old Venezuelan who made his MLB debut last year, as well as Roansy Contreras, the 18-year-old prospect of the New York organization , only 21 years old.

In addition to these two excellent players for whom they expect a great future in the majors, the Yankees sent in the young Maikol Escotto (18), a Dominican infielder who can play second base, short stop and third base, and the North American outfielder. Smith (21), who averaged .307 in Class A branches of the Mules in 2019, hitting 11 home runs and 74 RBI’s in 124 games.

For his part, the Yankees element, Jameson Taillon, returns to the big league-mound after more than a year of rest after a second Tommy John operation in 2019. He is expected to be part of the starting deck that his friend Gerrit Cole will lead and veteran Corey Kluber below.
