One of the best-known third-party releases coming to Nintendo Switch this year is Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play first-person shooter, Apex Legends (another EA title).
Last week, a Japanese release trailer for the game reported that this version would be released on the same date as Season 8 on February 2. Now an Amazon Japan listing for the “Champion Edition” has listed the same date and pre-orders are live.
Apex Legends was originally scheduled to hit the Switch last year, until Respawn delayed the game in October. Director Chad Grenier said the team wanted to do the Nintendo version “right” – and therefore it would take more development time.
“For those gaming on the Nintendo Switch, we’re still hard at work on the gate, but in order to do justice to the game and make it the great experience of Switch players, our team will need more time. This year has brought unexpected new challenges to say the least, and we don’t want to rush anything.“
If Apex Legends does arrive on February 2, we expect to hear something official soon. Will you download this free-to-play title when it eventually lands on the Switch? Drop a comment below.
