John Calipari is not happy with his team’s performance, especially how his team gave away the game in the loss to Georgia, their third consecutive loss in conference play. Asked to explain what he is saying to the team to avoid further discouragement after such a crushing loss, Calipari clapped back, ‘I need someone to talk to me because I’m discouraged. “
‘What have I just seen? The way we finished the game? The shot choice at the end? The free throws, converting – just throwing the ball at them for lay-ups? We gave them 20 points on the turnover they threw the ball. I am discouraged. “
Calipari also said the British guard game was “terrible” and that the defense was bad and they couldn’t win 50/50 balls before pointing the finger back to himself to find the solution.
“You can tell my frustration now, but I am the coach of the team and I have work to do and we have to figure out how to win games,” he said.
Part of getting things in the right direction is finding men he can always rely on, and that’s a problem right now. He wants to play six or seven boys, he says, “the problem is who would they be?”
