Puerto Rican singer Jennifer López today sent a message in Spanish at the end of her performance during Joe Biden’s inauguration as president of the United States.
“A nation under God, indivisible, with freedom and justice for all,” the singer said in Spanish after singing the song “This country is our countryon the steps of the Capitol.
Minutes earlier, minutes earlier, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor – also of Puerto Rican descent – swore in Kamala Harris as the first female vice president of the United States. Harris, in turn, is of Indian and Jamaican descent.
