Everyone has an opinion on what quarterback Deshaun Watson should do. He doesn’t seem to want to be with the Houston Texans after feeling disrespected by the team’s leadership and not facing various organizational decisions.
It was a recipe for an engaging off-season discussion, with fan bases from across the league wondering what their team’s attack might look like with Watson at the helm.
During The Cris Collinsworth PodcastCornerback Richard Sherman, who co-hosts the show, shared his thoughts on what Watson should be doing, and it’s not joining the San Francisco 49ers.
‘If I were Deshaun, I would get out of there as soon as possible. I was going to New York, ”Sherman said to Collinsworth and George Chahrouri. “… The Jets. It would be the nicest situation. A decent line of attack. They should find threats. They should find some assault weapons. But I think a lot more people would be excited to be there.
“I think the free agency market will be oversaturated this year because of the salary cap, but that’s what I would do.”
The suggestion is interesting, as Sherman will become a free agent himself and has made it clear that he doesn’t expect to return to San Francisco due to the team’s salary cap.
Sherman’s former defensive coordinator with the 49ers, Robert Saleh, is now the head coach of the Jets, so of course that has sparked some speculation that the All-Pro cornerback might be New York-bound. He may not be the only impending free agent of the 49ers watching the Jets either.
‘They will be able to put together a team, and if so [Watson is] at the helm, they immediately become a contender in not only that division, but the AFC in general, “added Sherman.
