GOP leaders skip Trump broadcast in favor of the church with Biden

Congress leaders, including House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, will address President Trump’s departure ceremony Tomorrow morning in Maryland to attend mass with President-to-be Joe Biden ahead of his inauguration, convention sources familiar with their plans tell Axios.

Why it matters: Their decision is a clear sign of unity before Biden takes the oath of office.

What we hear: The Catholic service will take place at St. Matthew’s Church in downtown Washington DC, about 10 blocks from the White House. It is expected to start at 8:45 a.m., sources with direct knowledge tell Axios.

  • Punchbowl News first reported details of the service.

Trump’s to send will be held Wednesday at 8am at Andrews shared base. Trump requested a military-style broadcast with a tape and possibly a flyover.
