Due to a slowdown in the number of appointments at COVID-19 vaccination sites, the County of San Diego has today expanded the category of those eligible to include those 75 and older.
“We took this action today to add individuals 75 and older because they are most at risk,” said Wilma J. Wooten, MD, MPH, County Public Health Officer. “It remains our intention to expand vaccines to people over 65 by the week of January 25, depending on vaccine availability.”
These new requirements apply to the Petco Park Vaccination Super Station and other Point of Distribution locations that supply County vaccines. More information can be found at coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and reservations can be made at vaccinatiesuperstationsd.com.
Only health care providers (stage 1A, all levels) and individuals 75 years of age and older (stage 1B, level 1) can visit vaccination sites.
- Health professionals are encouraged to contact their doctor or health care providers first to request the vaccine, but if none is available, they should make an appointment at a County site
- Appointments are required; walk-ups and drive-ups without an appointment will be rejected.
- Do not make an appointment if you have COVID-19 or are ill. Follow the CDC guidelines for those situations
- Medical professionals administering the vaccine will wear personal protective equipment
- Wear a mask
- Acceptable means of evidence to be presented at the district’s Vaccine Super Station
- Employee ID badge with photo or other documents, including professional license and photo ID, signed letter from their employer on facility stationery, and photo ID; or a payment slip or timesheet from their employer in healthcare or home support services with photo ID
