Queen Latifah plunges into character as ex-CIA member turned vigilante in action-packed trailer for The Equalizer
Queen Latifah has clearly been busy in recent months.
On January 9, a promotional trailer for her upcoming series The Equalizer was released on the series’ official Twitter account.
The remake of the action drama series will air on CBS, which also featured the original 1980s show.

New Promo: A trailer for the upcoming Queen Latifah-led series The Equalizer was released on January 9th

Wide Release: The 30 second trailer was first released on the series’ official Twitter account
The trailer opens with Latifah, who portrays Robyn McCall, taking a walk with her daughter Delilah, played by Laya DeLeon.
When asked by her child why she quit her job abruptly a month earlier, a quick series of photos is shown of Latifah exercising herself in a gym and out on the street, and the 50-year-old actress replies, “It’s complicated.”
There is another montage of photos on display, many of which include the Grammy-winning singer holding a gun during an operation with other individuals, and eventually finds some young women hiding in a closet.
She is then seen speaking with ex-CIA Director William Bishop, played by Chris Noth, who informs her that the agency is engaged in its vigilante activities, to which she replies that she is no longer under their jurisdiction.

Remake: The upcoming show is a remake of the 80s action drama series, which aired on CBS

Plotline: The story follows an ex-CIA agent who leaves the agency to pursue a life of vigilance
Latifah is then confronted by a friend of hers who asks if she is “some kind of ex-cop”, to which she replies that she has become: “the one who will call you when you cannot call emergency number”.
A brief physical exchange is then seen pushing a criminal against a wall, to his surprise, and the images then end.
An image of fluorescent lights is then shown, along with the series’ release date of February 7, right after the Super Bowl.
The time slot after the Super Bowl is one of the most coveted spots in TV programming, and many major networks use the time to air a special episode of an existing series or premiere an entirely new one.
Some of the shows that debuted after the annual sporting event include The A-Team, Family Guy, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Solid cast: Other cast members in the upcoming series include Chris Noth and Lorraine Toussaint
The development of the remake series was initially announced in November 2019, with Latifah serving as an executive producer on the show.
After a pilot assignment was given by CBS in January last year, the production crew began preparing to begin filming in March, before being delayed by the onset of the global pandemic; shooting finally started later in the year.
Cast members Tory Kittles, Lorraine Toussaint and Liza Lapira, among others.
The Equalizer had previously been made a 2014 film starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz; the project received mixed reviews, but was a box office success.
The Washington-led film spawned a 2018 sequel, which also performed well financially.

Big Screen: Two spin-off films inspired by the original show premiered in 2014 and 2018; both were financial successes at the box office
