Amid tears and indignation, they withdraw the murdered military police in Támara

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- Heartbroken and helpless, relatives and colleagues came to remove the lifeless body of the military policeman who was forcibly killed last Friday night in Támara prison, in the capital of Honduras.

The young man’s father Pedro Lopez Mejia (26), clung to his other relatives as they waited for the coffin to be released, outside the facilities of the Center of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

Minutes later, three uniformed men from the Military police of public order (PMOP) carried the coffin to take it later to the municipality of Santa Elena, in the department of La Paz, where it originally came from.

Fatal Attack

Lopez Mejia, was assigned to the maximum security module of this punishment center, as it turned out, on Friday night, he approached one of the cells to bring food to a prisoner who was allegedly responsible for his death.

The versions reveal that the suspect attacked the soldier, witnessed a hard blow to the head with a padlock, and then inflicted multiple injuries with a knife.

Authorities at the country’s main prison have not yet spoken out on the act of violence, so the identity of the person responsible and the possible motive for the attack are unknown.
