Samsung started the year with one of the most anticipated announcements: the launch of its popular family of ‘smartphones’ Galaxy S. The Korean brand unveiled three new devices this Thursday, adding major improvements in photography and video recording, in addition to recording for the first time – in the case of the Galaxy S21 Ultra compatibility with S Pen digital stylus, which was the Note’s exclusive feature until now.
The model S21 Ultra is the new ‘flagship’ from Samsung, which reaches EUR 1,439 in its most ‘premium’ version (16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage). This translates to a 6.8 inch screen Dynamic Amoled 2X with a refresh rate of 120 hertz, a 5,000 milliamp (mAh) battery and a powerful quad camera with a 100x hybrid zoom lens along with a 108 megapixel main lens, which also records video in quality 4K at 60 fps.
How much does the Galaxy S21 cost?
The price of the three versions that make up the new series of smartphones varies from 15 thousand to 23 thousand pesos.
Also interesting is the improved Snap 8K function, which allows you to capture sharp video images in 8K to record all the action in real time and at the same time take excellent photos of the same video every time user press record.
This is the technological ceiling that the Korean company has set to compete with the ‘top tier’ of the rest of the companies in the sector. In addition to these hardware innovations, the use of artificial intelligence has been added to improve graphics and battery management, among other things. It also adds compatibility with the S Pen – Samsung’s digital pen and star accessory of the Galaxy Note, which is now coming to the family Galaxy S.
The latter is one of the things that attracted the most attention during the presentation of these new devices. The S Pen It responds to the screen in the same way as the Note when taking notes or cropping images, but in this first version for the S series it has no external functions. The accessory is sold separately from the mobile, along with a case, instead of being plugged into it, as with the Note.
“Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is another example of how Samsung is driving meaningful innovation so that people can enjoy personalized experiences that enrich their lives and allow them to express themselves as they are, ”said TM Roh, president and chief business officer of mobile communications, Samsung Electronics, which has emphasized the importance of technology during the past year marked by the pandemic.
THE OTHER TWO MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY: S21 AND S21 +
Galaxy S21 and S21 + share a lot of the specs. Both phones have the same triple camera, with a wide angle lens 12 MP, an ultra-wide angle of 12 MP and a 64 MP telephoto lens. Likewise, both have a 10MP front camera in the form of a ‘notch’ (compared to the Ultra model’s 40MP) and 8 GB of RAM, with the option of choosing a model with 128 or 256 GB of storage space.
The differences between these two ‘smartphones’ can be seen more clearly in the size, with the S21 +’ s 6.7 inches compared to its little brother’s 6.2 inches; and on the drums, which extends from 4,000 to 4,800 mAh in the case of the Plus version. There is of course also a change in the price, which goes from 849 euros for the most basic model to 1049 euros from the Galaxy S21 +.
The Galaxy S’s new design has also attracted attention, especially with regard to the cameras, whose module (in the top left corner of the rear of the terminal) is less noticeable than in previous versions. This chamber structure, christened as ‘Contour Cut’, fits seamlessly into the device’s metal frame, with a sleek yet striking aesthetic.
The new Samsung Exynos 2100 It is the processor that integrates the Galaxy S21 series. A chip that makes the leap to 5 nanometers and eight cores, including one 5G modem to support this connectivity with all terminals presented this Thursday. A technological leap with which the Korean company promises a performance improvement of 10 percent and a consumption saving of 20 percent.
Samung, as some of its competitors have done in recent months, has decided to remove the charger from the boxes of the new mobile phones and sell it separately as the company believes that the charging mode (USB-C) is compatible with most chargers that users already have at home. The Galaxy S21 They also have a wireless and reversible charging mode, so that you can charge other devices (such as helmets or a smartwatch) with a mobile.
GALAXY BUDS PRO, THE PERFECT COMPLEMENT
The Galaxy S21 presentation event also served to mark the launch of the Galaxy Buds Pro, the company’s new wireless headphones, which improve their performance to become the perfect complement to the ‘smartphone’. The sale price of these helmets is 239 euros in Spain.
Enhancements include two noise canceling modes and four different levels of ambient noise to adapt the sound to any situation, with a ‘talk mode’ that automatically lowers the headphones volume when they detect the user has started. a conversation (Intelligent ANC).
To ensure that the headphones can be used in different environments, Samsung has improved the resistance of the headphones until it is reached IPX7 certification, that ensures correct use even when wet with water or sweat. In terms of battery, the company guarantees eight hours of playtime, with an additional twenty hours of use of the charging case and an additional hour of playtime with just 5 minutes of charging.
“As people seek technology to adapt to their new routines and lifestyles, the wireless headphones market has expanded significantly and consumer expectations have risen,” adds TM Roh, promising “a unique audio experience”.
