The technician Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera described as “not very serious” the information Cartel del Gol, where his name is implicated in an alleged fraud scheme in Mexican football.
The report, written by Amir Ibrahim, tries to show the promoter networks that control Aztec sport and player transfers.
“To be honest, I’ve never had a promoter. I’ve never had to deal with promoters,” said Herrera ESPN on the show Now or Never.
“I’ve always expressed it. I once greeted Greg Taylor for representing Raúl Jiménez,” he said. “We saw Carlos Hurtado in a restaurant once. Never saw them again,” he added.
According to Ibrahim’s information, Taylor and Manuel Velarde are “selling” players at a premium to Liga MX teams.
“I don’t see Hurtado as 20 years ago. Taylor, from that date,” said Herrera. “I’m soccer players. They never got to me. That’s a not very serious comment of some sort that his information has gotten bigger through the names he’s used than through the same research,” he said.

The author of the controversial report confirmed that if the streetcars he says are wiped out, Mexico could host a World Cup.
The Cartel del Gol study, which began in 2019, aims to reveal how roughly three networks of promoters control most of the competitive market. That would cause promising youngsters to get lost along the way.
“No one represents my interests. I didn’t do it when I started out as a player, and now that I have a much more established curriculum, I don’t need to,” he said.
Herrera spoke about this and several topics in Now and Never, which can be found on the digital platform ESPN Deportes.
