State agent’s mother murdered in Carolina: “He was put on duty”

“I am very proud of him. And he died in whatever he wanted with his boots on. He loved his job, he loved the police. He liked what he did ”.

This was expressed yesterday when she left the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF), Mrs. Maria Luisa Diaz, mother of the state soldier Luis Marrero Díaz, who was murdered Monday afternoon while chasing a criminal on Isla Verde, at events that also shot dead Carolina municipal police officers Luis Salamán Conde and Eliezer Hernández Cartagena.

Díaz made his statements after going through the painful process of identifying his son’s body with the ICF, where he went along with his granddaughter Jheylimar, the eldest of Officer Marrero Díaz’s three daughters.

Shortly before, on entering the building, although still strong, he heard to the officers accompanying him, “If I fall, they will pick me up.”

Like Díaz and his granddaughter, the families of agents Salamán Conde and Hernández Cartagena went through the identification process at the ICF somewhere yesterday, while at the same time making arrangements with funeral homes for the officers’ vigil and burial. .

A fourth family also had to go to the ICF yesterday to identify their relative, the man who appeared to have been murdered with a sign accusing him of being the police killer, in events that are still under investigation, regardless of whether they relate to the sequel to criminal events that ended the lives of the three officers.

‘He was very good. Thank God, ”Díaz said of his son, repeating the pride he felt for him.

He said he was very fond of sports, and especially baseball. ‘He was a player. He played in all categories from the age of three, up to Double A. He played with Cidra, Comerío, Florida, Vega Alta, and I’m not sure with Manatí, too, ”he said. “He loved sports, and when the old men came to play, one was missing. They called ‘Luisito, come on, we’re missing one,’ and he would come down.”

‘And he was always on the road with the girls. Forever. He was one of those fathers who was present in the daughters’ sport, ”added Lieutenant Milery Méndez, who studied under Officer Marrero Díaz and also shared with him at the Police Academy.

“So it is. Exercise the girls had, there was father,” the state agent’s mother posted.

“An excellent father, an excellent son. I am not complaining about my son. I haven’t had a complaint about him from anyone in his life, ”he insisted. “I am very proud of him.”

He also noted that Marrero Díaz, who was “the son of two officers, a firefighter and a teacher,” spent his time helping other people.

“More than proud of being a police officer, I am very proud of the person the Lord allowed me to create. He was a great person. Always helping others, helping with pain, ”he added. “About three months ago, a neighbor’s baby was murdered, and he was the one who took care of everything, came to forensic science, accompanied him with his motor boat, the whole funeral, he did everything. He was commissioned ”.
