To celebrate the anniversary of the original Boxster launched in 1996, Porsche has unveiled a brand new special edition ‘Boxster 25 Years’ model. Only 1250 units will be built, each based on the current GTS 4.0 model. That means a 394 horsepower 4-liter flat six, and a 0-60 time of just 3.8 seconds. It will be available with either a PDK or a 6-speed stick transmission, but all will have this beautiful set of simple five-spoke bronze wheels.
Porsche calls this bronze color Neodyme, which is used in various places in the special edition model. In addition to the wheels, it can also be found on the front grille, side air intakes and all decals on the outside of the car. It is described as “a coppery, lustrous brown” and contrasts with one of three optional colors; GT silver metallic, jet black metallic and carrara white metallic.
If I had the choice, I would have the black. Especially considering the interior and top of each of these Boxster 25 Years will be blood red. Oh yes, that would be extra fun. You can choose to have your interior and top black, but that’s just a choice a coward would make.
It’s been a while since Porsche built a wheel as attractive as this. It doesn’t take much to make a wheel really pop, just a two-tone color paletteit is one way to do just that. The 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 is already a catchy shape, so it doesn’t need a fancy intricate wheel design. These flat five-spoke are perfectly understated. Just a little bit of flare when the spoke hits the rim is all it needs.

Just absolutely phenomenal work from the designers of this one.
If you want any of these things, get in touch with your Porsche dealer as soon as possible as they don’t last with only 1250 built. However, it won’t come cheap as the 25 years begin $ 98,600 plus an extra $ 1,350 for delivery. Given the ‘standard’ 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 starts at $ 88,900, this anniversary pack is a pretty hefty premium, but those wheels alone might be worth it.
