Dr. Eric Sergienko receives the COVID-19 vaccine
Sonora, CA – The Mariposa County Health Officer, who also serves as an interim officer for Tuolumne County, has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
He shares through the Mariposa County Public Health department that after the first dose, he had some expected pain in his arm near the injection site. This was to be expected, and he said, “It was not too bad.”
The day after his second injection, which he received on Friday, he felt “a little painful” and had a mild headache. It wasn’t enough to disrupt his working day. The next morning he was in “a little more pain”, but said “nothing too disturbing”.
As the immune response increases after receiving the vaccine, the health department reports that common side effects can include things like pain, fatigue, and fever. For more information, per CDC, click here.
State, federal, and local public health officials strongly encourage the use of the vaccine to achieve a high level of immunity, and it is considered part of the efforts to end the pandemic.
