“This is important,” said DeSantis. “This is a site that will be replicated in a number of different areas in the state. But we really believe it’s important to make sure these vaccines get into all segments of the communities, and we think it works with our homes. of worship is one way you can do that. “

Seven locations, many of which in partnership with predominantly black churches, will begin vaccinating seniors on Sunday.

The sites are located in Lynn Haven, Tallahassee, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Tampa and Jacksonville.

“Our priority is to provide vaccinations for our seniors 65 and older. We put seniors first,” said DeSantis. “We will continue to work hard until every senior who wants it can get it. Hopefully next week we’ll get about 250,000 more vaccinations – first doses -. I’d like to get more. I asked if we could possibly get more.”
