Unfortunately, the chances of seeing Desperados III on the switch are not good

We’ve seen some great ports on Switch, the most recent of which is exceptionally good DOOM Eternal. While we know Nintendo’s console isn’t as powerful as last-gen hardware from Sony and Microsoft, it’s clear that in the right hands it can still hold some impressive titles.

However, not every game is destined to come to Switch, and it seems Desperados III – which is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC – is one of those games. Moritz Wagner, Mimimi Games Head of Design, was recently questioned about the potential of a Switch port, replying:

So we love the Switch too, especially our boss – he’s a huge fan. I don’t think it’s going to work. We have been trying this for quite some time. It’s something that always pops up. Sometimes THQ says, ‘Well, we can get these people to look at it. Maybe they can make a gate.

The thing is, the game is very demanding – especially the CPU, which is a big deal for the normal consoles that already have this game running. Which you might not believe sometimes because it’s not Red Dead or something, right?

… I don’t think it’s going to happen. I hope it ever will. We always re-evaluate it when something new comes up, but the game just doesn’t really work. Maybe there is a new version of Switch that’s a little more powerful – it’s something we can take a look at again. Not sure if they are currently looking for something, but unfortunately not in the near future.

Were you hoping we would see Desperados III on Switch?
