NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Two people were hospitalized after burns from a house fire early on Saturday morning.
Authorities said they were in the house when it caught fire. According to Miami Dade Fire Rescue, the call came in at 5:47 AM.
Neighbors told Local 10 News they heard a loud explosion from an efficiency behind a house just off Northwest 36th Avenue on Northwest 33rd Court.
The force of the explosion was so great that part of the efficiency’s roof was blown onto an adjacent house.
Surveillance video captured the explosion.
“I mean, it made this place rickety,” said neighbor Sylvester Williams. “The whole neighborhood was shaking like a bomb.”
Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread to neighboring homes.
Units arrived to find fierce fire from the outside of the building entering the interior. They carried out a fire attack and eventually found a few victims, ”said Ryan Rothenberg of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The circumstances of the two people are not known at this time and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
