Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf course will likely be gutted from a major tournament on the 2022 PGA Tour calendar in the latest fallout from the Capitol riot on Wednesday.
The decision to take down the 2022 PGA Championship – one of the sport’s premier tournaments – has not yet been announced.
But Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch believes the decision will likely come after Trump is out of office.
“The odds that the ’22 PGA Championship will take place as scheduled in New Jersey is about as likely as you or I will win,” Lynch clearly wrote with an ironic tongue on Saturday.

A report from Golfweek suggests that the 2022 PGA Championship will be played elsewhere
Seth Waugh, the CEO of the PGA of America, was a banker and has a watchful eye for high-risk exposure. He knows that Trumpism will likely be an equally inflammatory force in the ’22 midterm elections and that any affiliation is toxic.
“Waugh will be forced to relocate the event and face a small but rowdy faction of its members who remain true believers.”
Lynch also suggested the decision could come after Joe Biden’s inauguration, writing ‘concerns will disappear within 10 days, if not sooner’.
The PGA has been debating moving the championship for a while.

On Thursday, golfer Gary Player received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump

Trump also awarded the Medal of Freedom to Annika Sorenstam and Babe Zaharias
“ Relocating his major from Trump National has been debated internally at the PGA for over two years, but executives are reluctant to oppose a famously vengeful man who controls the Internal Revenue Service. ” Lynch wrote.
The 2022 PGA Championship would be the first men’s major to take place at Trump National Golf Club.
In 2017, the US Women’s Open took place there, which was won by the South Korean Park Sung-hyun.

That Medal of Freedom ceremony came just a day after the Capitol riots on Wednesday

The Capitol uprising has so far been linked to the deaths of at least five people

Golf has always been Trump’s favorite sport, or at least the sport he has been most associated with over the years.
The president owns at least 17 golf clubs around the world, including several in Florida.
Trump famously admonished Barack Obama for the amount of time the former president spent playing golf, but GNN estimates that Trump played golf at least 308 times during his presidency.
The day after the riot at the Capitol, Trump even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to three golfers: Annika Sorenstam, Gary Player and the late Babe Didrikson Zaharias.
The possible removal of one of Trump National’s biggest golf tournaments is the latest in a string of responses after Trump helped instigate the Wednesday riot linked to at least five deaths.
Some fans of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York are calling for Trump to be digitally removed from his role in the film.
“I will not rest until he is removed from that scene in Home Alone 2,” Matt Navarra wrote on Twitter.

Foreign leaders, domestic leaders, and diplomats also condemn the president, who has since been blocked from using most social media sites indefinitely.
“ Failure to hold the president to account publicly would further damage our democracy and our ability to effectively achieve our foreign policy goals abroad, ” said a telegram from diplomats to the State Department, according to the Associated Press.
Other cancellations related to the riot include Simon & Schuster canceling Senator Josh Hawley’s planned book and Apple and Amazon removing right-wing social media app Parler from their platforms.
One of the remaining consequences that could be in the works is Trump’s removal from office.
It doesn’t seem likely that the 25th Amendment will be invoked, but House Democrats are aiming for a vote on impeachment this week.
Biden’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20.
