‘King of Figthers’ , one of the most engaging video games that especially marked the 90s, and ‘Dragon Ball’, the popular creation of Akira Toriyama, they had one shared history thanks to the SNK developers who dared to participate Goku in a version that was never released.
A few days ago, Toyohisa Tanabe, one of the great developers at SNK, the company that made KOF, broadcast that Goku, in addition to Ryu and Ken from ‘Street fighter’ they were programmed for the 1998 version of the popular fighting game, a secret he was hesitant to reveal.
“I don’t know if I really should say this, but… Two years before it came out. ‘Capcom versus SNK’, we did ‘King of Fighters’ 98′, and we actually had some time after we finished development. So the team ended building the game with Ryu and Ken Bee. This isn’t something a lot of people know, I think only developers know, and I’ve never told anyone, but yeah, just for fun, before ‘Capcom vs. Snk ‘out of one thing, I played as Ryu and Ken in ‘King of Fighters ’98” he explained to the site Polygon.
“I doubt there is a version anywhere. We did this on developer hardware, so of course it never came in a physical cartridge. I just remember this now, but it wasn’t just Ryu and Ken that we ended up playing with. We also include characters from ‘Dragon Ball’like Son Goku, ”he added.
Both Ryu and Ken appeared in the Capcom vs. SNK, more no así Kakaroto, who will forever remain what he would look like fighting Iori or Kyo Kusanagi.
“In many ways, it was like a dream game for me. It was really nice to see the characters we designed reinterpreted by the folks at Capcom. And as a game I loved it too, ”Tanabe completed.
