Lucy Lawless, perhaps better known as ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’, is kicking and naming names as usual.
Yesterday, the New Zealand-born actor logged into Twitter and opted for verbal abuse – against fellow actor of mythical proportions Kevin Sorbo, who many remember as the ‘Hercules’ of television. The two ’90s icons were known for their series of crossovers, in which the two characters would defeat all manner of folkloric monsters and fairytale villains.
But in the real world, Lawless has set her sights on defeating a different kind of rival: baseless claims about the rioters in the Capitol.
Sorbo tweeted in response to a surreal portrait of three protesters storming the Capitol, including prominent conspiracy theorist Jake Angeli, commonly known as Which man who appeared in DC shirtless and heavily painted in red, white, and blue, wearing a horned headdress, draped in fur.
“They don’t look like patriots,” Sorbo said on Jan. 6 in a retweet shared by Rogan O’Handley, a DC attorney with #MAGA on his profile. Do these look like Trump supporters? Or leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters… ”asked O’Handley in his original tweet.
“No, Peanut,” Lawless responded – patronizingly – to Sorbo’s retweet, chasing after him and O’Handley’s baseless claims. ‘They are not patriots. They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. It’s the douchebags that go out and take the bad orders from people like you who love to roll them up like toys and make them do their best. “
She concluded with the hashtags #KeepingYourFilthyHandsClean and #enabler.
The original allegation that the photo of Antifa actors in disguise was also slapped with a warning from Twitter, which read, in part, “There is no evidence so far to prove that Antifa activists were part of the crowd that entered the building on Wednesday. checks from Snopes, PolitiFact, BuzzFeed News and other organizations. “
Lawless’ answer has since been gone viral with 42,000 likes and nearly 10,000 retweets – so loved that even her fans have collected remnants.
Lucy Lawless, as tough as her namesake. Love her forever, ” wrote Timo Tjahjanto, which has nearly 40,000 likes of its own based on Lawless’s linguistic lashing.
“Xena Folding Hercules is the Content I’m Here For ™,” tweeted @valhallabckgirl. Her praise also generated 32,000 likes.
Comedian Patton Oswalt also shared a screenshot of the exchange with Sorbo. “DAAAMN @RealLucyLawless,” he tweeted, in addition to three “100 point” emojis.
