Oslo, Norway
A Norwegian MP who nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize on Thursday thought the US president did not deserve the award, given his behavior since the loss of the November 2020 election.
Deputy, member of the anti-immigrant law, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, pointed out that the candidacy he announced in September was justified at the time by the progress he said Donald Trump reaches in the Middle East. But the behavior he’s had since the last election disqualifies him from the award, he added.
“It has brought results in the Middle East for peace between Israel and several neighboring countries,” Tybring-Gjedde told TV2 Nyhets Channels.

“There are many peace awards given to people who have failed, when he has. But when we see what happened next and what just happened, winning that prize would be completely unnatural, ”he added.
Tybring-Gjedde and a Swedish MP separately nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize 2021, the first for the role of the outgoing president in the standardization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, and the second for his efforts in the rapprochement between Serbia and Kosovo.
Donald Trump refused to accept his defeat in the Nov. 3 presidential election, and a rally of his supporters on Wednesday in Washington degenerated into violent episodes on the Capitol grounds. A deadly violence that Trump was accused of firing.
“After the electoral defeat […]He has been practically mentally unstable, judging by his behavior, “said Tybring-Gjedde, who also nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize in 2018.” I think it’s a shame what he’s done since the election. I should have accepted defeat long ago. ‘

Tens of thousands of people (parliamentarians and ministers from all countries, former winners, some university professors, etc.) can run for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Committee, for its part, confirms that it accepts all valid candidacies, but specifies that being nominated for the award does not mean that the body will promote the candidacy.
