Whatever the future holds for the DC Extended Universe, it is unlikely that Ray Fisher’s version of Cyborg will be featured.

The Wrap reports that despite Cyborg ever a cameo set for the upcoming Andy Muschietti Flash film starring Ezra Millerthe role has now been written out and will not be rearranged. io9 independently confirmed this with a source close to the project.

The news comes after that months of public disputes between Fisher and Warner Bros. about allegations of misconduct on Joss Whedon’s set Justice League shoot again. On December 11, WarnerMedia released a statement that the investigation (which began in August 2020) into the events had been completed and that “corrective action has been taken.” Which culminated on December 30 with Fisher issuing an ultimatum, or seemingly giving up his role as a superhero, when he tweeted in part, “I will not participate in a production related to” DC Films president Walter Hamada.

While Hamada was not busy Justice League During the first alleged events, Fisher has claimed that he was an accomplice afterwards. At the time, Warner Bros. released a statement saying in part, “The two had spoken before when Mr. Hamada asked him to reprise his role as Cyborg in Warner Bros.” upcoming Flash movie, along with other members of the Justice League. In a July conversation, Mr. Fisher shared the disagreements he had had with the film’s creative team about his portrayal of Cyborg, and complained that his proposed script revisions had not been taken over. Mr. Hamada explained that creative differences are a normal part of the game. production process and that the writer / director of a film should ultimately be in charge of these matters. Notably, Mr. Hamada also told Mr. Fisher that he would bring his concerns to WarnerMedia so they could investigate. ”

This week, Warner Bros. extended Hamada’s contract to continue his role with DC Films. In response to the news that same day, Fisher tweeted, “It’s strange how these reactionary announcements come from [Warner Bros.] always forget to mention that Walter Hamada worked directly with Geoff Johns and Toby Emmerich (op Shazam) DURING Justice League shoot again … “

However, with Hamada leading DC Films in the near future and Fisher saying he wouldn’t be working with DC under Hamada, the team behind The flash decided to take out the Cyborg cameo. Batman actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s cameos as their respective Bruce Wayne’s remain and deals have been struck. This means that Fisher’s Cyborg will be last seen in the near future unless major moves take place on the Warner Bros. side. Snyder Cut off Justice League, who will have an expanded role for the character. It will be out later this year.
