“When boarding the plane, the person says he had no opportunity to take the test, he arrives in the country and takes the test while remaining isolated while the result comes in. It simplifies the process and ensures that there is no problem when arriving in the country, ”said Health Minister Fernando Ruiz.

According to the Minsalud, upon arrival in Colombia, the passenger must inform the immigration officer if he has the negative result of the PCR test, which must be performed within 96 hours before boarding.

If you don’t have it, you can choose to have it done in Colombia, although you must remain in preventive isolation until you receive the results. The costs are borne by the traveler.

If the traveler does not have the proof and decides not to do so upon arrival, he must remain in preventive isolation for 14 days and must provide the address of his place of residence where he will do so.

The decision of the Ministry of Health was taken after a painstaking trial that began with a ruling by the 11th Administrative Court of Orality of the Bogotá Circuit. Following a custody action, Judge Giovanni Humberto Legro ordered the government to request this evidence. The scientific community for its part has repeatedly rejected this decision because it had no scientific support.

“We maintain our position that this ruling is impossible to comply with, we ask the judge for clarification and on that basis we issue the resolution allowing travelers entering Colombia to take the test in Colombia,” said Minister Ruiz .
