Candace Cameron Bure is not suffering fools this year.
Over the weekend, the “Fuller House” star hit back against internet trolls who apparently took offense with her family Christmas photo.
Bure, 44, posted the disputed photo – taken by photographer Melissa Coulier, the wife of Bure’s former ‘Full House’ co-star Dave Coulier – to Instagram on Jan. 2. In it, she poses with husband Valeri and the couple’s three children: daughter Natasha, 22, and sons Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18.
Admittedly, the photo doesn’t look like a spontaneous photo of a phone and seems to bear the marks of heavy Photoshop work, which drew comparisons to an album cover or a clothing ad.
However, some commentators took to the family, suggesting that one of Bure’s sons “looks stoned” and her daughter “an evil queen from the Disney movie.”
‘Oh my god, I didn’t smile or look at the camera. Sue me !!! ”Natasha replied in her own IG comment.
Also Saturday, Bure posted a Facebook response to the negativity that read, in part, “Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone’s kids? To joke about it? To criticize our poses? The direction in which we look? Our physical appearance and facial expressions?
“I wished blessings to everyone as I shared it in the spirit of a Happy New Year, yet so many of you came back joking about our looks and criticizing what you thought would have been a better picture,” she continued. “Shame on you. It doesn’t matter if you’re 10 or 90 years old, being rude is rude … If you don’t like something, just move on. Behind every screen are people and real feelings.”
“PS,” she ended, “please don’t tell me to ignore the ‘haters’. There were plenty of well-meaning people who thought it would be funny to point out things and share their comments “with love.” Umm … that’s not love. That is mean.”
Bure’s family photos look like some kind of lightning rod. In November, she posted a photo of her and Valeri with his hand draped over her shoulder, resting on one of her breasts, which some commenters said was inappropriate.
“[Valeri] can touch me whenever he wants, and I hope he does, ”responded Bure in the first of what would become a multi-stage defense of the photo. “This is what a healthy, good marriage and relationship is all about.”
