PLANO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) A driver was killed in a rapid crash at the Dallas Parkway north between Park and Parker in Plano on Monday morning, January 4.
Plano police said Heather Alayne Hawkins, 33, of Rowlett left the turnpike “at high speed, lost control and hit a tree” at around 7:20 am.
Witnesses reported that she meandered across lanes.
The driver was removed from the vehicle by Plano’s firefighters and rushed to a local hospital where she was declared dead.
Speed is a factor in this crash and intoxication is suspected with toxicology reports pending, police said.

Police closed the Parker Road exit during the investigation and removal of the vehicle.
