The 22-year-old woman named “Soho Karen” for her confrontation with a black teen in a Manhattan hotel was “downright bellicose” when California police arrested her for DUI, according to a new report.
Miya Ponsetto allegedly admitted to Los Angeles police in May that she had taken Xanax and drank wine before being stopped for erratic driving, TMZ reported Monday.
According to the recently released details of the arrest, Ponsetto refused a test of moderation in the field, and became critical of the police when they tried to handcuff her.
According to TMZ, she got into a tantrum, which reported that Ponsetto began “kicking the floor, hitting her body, and even hitting her head on the sidewalk.”
She was charged with drunk driving and later argued for no game in the case, agreeing to three hours of probation, 30 hours of community service and attend a nine-month alcohol and drug counseling program, the outlet said.
Ponsetto and her mother were also charged with public intoxication and battery after causing a melee at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills on Feb. 28, according to a police report of the incident.
But it wasn’t until December 26 that Ponsetto’s name went viral after she falsely accused a black teen of stealing her iPhone at a Soho hotel.
Keyon Harrold Jr., 14, was at the Alro Hotel with his father, a jazz trumpeter of the same name, when Ponsetto is featured on a viral video addressing the teenager.
The incident led to Manhattan prosecutors being called to charge Ponsetto, which is low in California.
