“It is a crime to recruit electoral fraud, and asking the secretary to change the votes is a textbook definition of electoral fraud,” David Worley told The Washington Post, which first released the audio of Trump’s call on Sunday.

Worley said in a letter to Raffensperger that the call was a “likely cause” for an investigation into possible violations of the election codes, citing part of the state code that criminalizes soliciting someone else’s electoral fraud.

“Such an incident, as it occurs in every local and national news outlet, cannot be ignored or brushed aside,” he wrote. In the appeal to Raffensperger, Trump demands that the Georgia secretary of state “find 11,780 votes,” citing unsubstantiated allegations of widespread voter fraud in the state. In the appeal, Raffensperger refuses to assist the president and questions the validity of the sources of his claims.
