“Still thinking about this constant feeling that I was in that random part of the park at the exact time I should have been to find that young man,” he began. “There are a lot of coincidences that really lead me to believe that he led me to where he was.”

The musician revealed that he found the body around noon on New Year’s Eve.

About half an hour later, I checked my watch. My running app was paused when I stopped and found it, and it said my average pace at the time was 11:11, ”he continued. “I told the police and the couple who gave me their phone to check my watch, and that may have boded well.”

Afterward, Rich felt compelled to share the information with the deceased’s mother.

‘Yesterday I spoke to his dear mother, it was one of the hardest things I can remember. We talked about the timeline and the series of events. She said the last text he sent was at 11:11 AM [sic]. And I found him just 45 minutes later, ‘he explained.

As far as he was concerned, the discovery of the body was a fate, not just a terrible tragedy.

“I really believe his spirit led me to that random side of the mountain to find him,” he wrote.

Rich described 11:11 as an indication that “angels are with you” and that it is a time to “wish whatever you want.” To feel comfortable. That the universe is on your side. ‘

The number was also important to him because of his song 11:11, which is about “loss.”

“So every time I see those numbers, it resonates with me,” he continued.

Rich opened up about his ‘rough 24 hours’ earlier Friday after unexpectedly discovering the body.

He applauded aid workers and members of the armed forces for being able to “ face death every day ” in the Instagram post and “ continue to live their daily lives. ”

Still shocked, he explained that he was ‘quite a long way from where anyone else would run’ in a heavily forested area before saying he thought he saw a ‘young homeless person’ sleeping.

He was on his stomach with a sack tied around his foot and facedown. (Assuming it might be that people weren’t stealing his belongings while he slept), he explained, ‘the artist said.

Rich continued: ‘After running around him I felt bad for him, he slept face down and looked like he was in a bad place. So I turned and went back to check on him. ‘

Then the singer said he realized the man was “ not breathing ” and looked like he had been shot or was the victim of blunt force trauma.

‘When I come for him, all I see is a lifeless face covered in blood. Everywhere, ”he recalled. ‘Right now, I panic and jump up the steep hill trying to find someone to call the police (I only had my Apple Watch at the time).

He then finds a couple about 30 yards away and used their phone to contact authorities and ends up spending hours making statements with state forces, FBI, local police and detectives.

This young man looked maybe 18-25. Couldn’t tell, because of all the blood, but his skin was still white. It didn’t look like it had happened too long before I got there, ”he noted.

He continued: “After some time, the officers found a gun in one of his hands under his body. Which means it could have been suicide … Not that there is anything that could help me find him like that. But if I know he wasn’t there, thrown out by someone else, and that he was where he wanted to be, at least I’ll feel a little more comfortable. ‘

Rich went on to describe how the ordeal has weighed heavily on him.

‘I do what I can to process this, the image, the reality. It’s been a tough 24 hours, ”he admitted. “Something I’ll never forget or forget the few minutes when he and I were alone on the water while I figured out what the hell was going on and what I was going to do. Dead quiet in the middle of a state park. Just running water and him and me. He looked like a young normal child. Someone with a family is probably wondering where he was. ‘

Rich, who was in Massachusetts with his wife Sabina Gadecki for the holidays, decided to write down his caption, “Whoever you are and were, RIP friend.”
