Vaccinations against COVID 19 begin in Vatican City

In the coming days, Vatican City will begin the COVID 19 vaccination campaign among its employees and residents.

According to a press release from the Vatican City Government, “priority will be given to health and public safety personnel, the elderly and those most frequently in contact with the public.”

In other words, vaccination will begin according to “the selection criteria of the categories most exposed to contamination”.

Vaccines are expected to arrive in the Vatican “in the second week of January, in an amount sufficient to meet the needs of the Holy See and Vatican City”.

In order to preserve the doses, the Vatican government has “purchased an ‘ultra-low temperature’ refrigerator”.

The vaccinations will be carried out in the atrium of the Paul VI Ward by qualified medical personnel from the Health and Hygiene Directorate of the Vatican City State Government, “always in accordance with the pandemic health recommendations”.
