Devil May Cry Creator Teases Next Game

After letting go Devil May Cry 5 back in 2019 and a new one Special edition of the action title for next-gen platforms just a few months ago, the game’s director is now teasing what’s to come. While he hasn’t outright disclosed what Capcom’s development team is working on, it sounds like an announcement is coming soon.

In a new post on Twitter, Capcom’s Hideaki Itsuno released a new image and statement to celebrate the new year. Itsuno started the tweet by begging players to hand over the new Vergil DLC Devil May Cry 5 an opportunity if they haven’t done so before and then state what’s going to happen in the future. The beloved video game maker said his team’s next project was developing seemingly in parallel DMC5 and for now it is still on schedule. Itsuno ended his tweet by saying that this upcoming game is still a long way off, but asked fans to rave about the upcoming reveal.

The big question here, of course, is what Itsuno and the Capcom team are now working on. While there are no blatant teasing to be found in this tweet, we have some good guesses about what might come next based on what has happened over the years.

Dragon’s Dogma 2, a sequel to the 2012 action-adventure title that Itsuno directed, seems to be the most likely candidate to be slaved on. In the past, Itsuno has specifically made it clear that he had wanted to make a sequel to the game for quite some time and almost opted to do so rather than develop. Devil May Cry 5. In addition, previous reports released in recent months claim that Capcom is already actively developing Dragon’s Dogma 2.

While it remains to be seen if this is indeed what Capcom is creating, as Itsuno suggests, it may be a while before we actually get our hands on it. Since it’s also so far away, whatever this game becomes, it certainly won’t make it to the last generation of hardware and will probably only be made for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.

So you expect Itsuno and the rest of the team at Capcom to be actively creating Dragon’s Dogma 2, or could this be a completely different project? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below or give me a call on Twitter @ Jeroen1988 to chat more.
