SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento County health order, which was due to expire Thursday at 11:59 p.m., remains in effect, the county says.
The state of California will release its official four-week ICU availability projections, including the greater Sacramento area, on Saturday, January 2. It indicated in a press release on Thursday that the order is likely to be extended to ensure ICU capacity.
Even after the state’s order has expired, it is still up to the county health officer to determine whether the county order, which also took effect on Dec. 10, will be revoked, a county spokesman told CBS13.
Meanwhile, popular Sacramento restaurants have been vacant for weeks.
‘It’s so sad to come out here because it’s so dead. It’s usually so vibrant, ”said Jessica Manzo, a Sacramento native.
The capacity of ICU beds in the Sacramento area is currently more than 15 percent, which is the threshold for stay-at-home orders. CBS13 asked Sacramento County public health officials what it takes to reopen the entire region.

After the order expires, Sacramento County will likely be back in the purple layer, meaning outdoor dining will return for local restaurants.
