How to watch the Times Square Ball Drop on New Years Eve 2020

How to watch the ball fall in a year when the ball fell.

Times Square is unfortunately closed to the public tonight due to concerns about the coronavirus, which marks the first time the venue has been empty on New Year’s Eve since 1907.

That doesn’t mean NYE revelers won’t have a ball, though: the iconic sphere will still drop at midnight as part of a broadcast event.

How to watch the live stream

The world can witness New York City’s annual NYE spectacle from home by tuning in to a six-hour ad-free webcast presented by official Times Square New Year’s Eve co-organizers Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment.

The virtual ball drop ceremony is once again hosted by Jonathan Bennett and will feature performances from Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, Andra Day, Gloria Gaynor, the USO Show Troupe and the Waffle Crew.

Consistent with COVID-19 precautions, the Times Square 2021 webcast will be off-limits to the public and will comply with New York State health protocols.

The annual event starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 12:15 pm

Viewers can live stream coverage of the balls falling on TimesSquareNYC.org, NewYearsEve.nyc, Livestream.com/2021, TimesSquareBall.net and Facebook Live.
