Anthony Hopkins is celebrating a milestone – 45 years of sobriety.
On Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actor, 82, who delighted fans with quirky videos on Instagram, shared an inspiring post in which he spoke honestly about his journey to recovery.
Noting that 2020 was a tough year “full of grief and sorrow”, the star of “The Two Popes” revealed that he received a “wake-up call” 45 years ago.
“I was headed for disaster,” he explained. ‘I drank myself to death. I’m not preachy, but I got a little bit of a message saying, “Do you want to live or die?” And I said, “I want to live,” and suddenly the relief came. “
The Welsh-born thespian urged his followers to “stay there.”
