Starting this week, some Texans 65 and older or those with underlying health conditions may receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
But the offer is limited and you will have to call to find a pharmacy or clinic that will administer the vaccine.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, people under Stage 1B are now eligible for the vaccine, but it is up to individual pharmacies and clinics to determine if they have adequate supplies. First responders who fall under Stage 1A have priority.
Phase 1B includes:
- People aged 65 and over
- People 16 years of age and older who have at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk of serious illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, including, but not limited to:
cancer
chronic kidney disease
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
transplantation of solid organs
obesity and severe overweight (body mass index of 30 kg / m2 or higher)
pregnancy
sickle cell disease
Diabetes mellitus type 2
NBC 5 spoke to a couple in their seventies who were able to call and locate a Super 1 Food pharmacy in Seagoville that was giving vaccines to people 65 and older.
They made an appointment and were given a Moderna vaccine on Tuesday morning.
A spokesman for the Texas Department of State Health Services released the following statement to NBC 5:
“We are still in Phase 1A, but we have provided guidance to healthcare providers who have vaccinated all willing members of Phase 1A and who have a vaccine available. We’ve added a provider location map to our website and we’ve updated our main vaccine information page with information for the public advising them to contact suppliers to find out if they have a vaccine that can be used to vaccinate people in phase 1B. The map shows where the vaccine was shipped, but does not indicate whether that provider has a vaccine available for the Phase 1B population. We want to be clear that phase 1B people can check with these providers if they have a vaccine available and make an appointment to get vaccinated at that location. We recognize that the offer available is limited and that some providers on the card have already used their allocation. Let your viewers know that Texas will be getting more vaccine every week so that people can check the map weekly for updated information.“
