Final file in case Odebrecht will have to wait

The prosecutor argued that the statements that the preliminary and final files ordered are contradictory, excluding seven people from the charges in the Odebrecht case, for which they have requested their nullity.

While Judge José Alejandro Vargas, who heard the appeal yesterday, recorded the reading of the statement on the challenge for January 14 at 5:00 p.m.

The public hearing began at 9:12 AM and lasted until 4:41 PM, with two pauses and some interruptions due to technical issues. The audience was broadcast on YouTube.

The prosecutor, represented by prosecutors Mirian Ortiz and Rosa Alba García, pointed out that in the preliminary files the lack of sufficient evidence against the then accused was alleged, but that on the other hand, the final evidence was justified because there were no criminal charges.

Given that they were irregular, the prosecutor asked Magistrate Vargas, coordinating judge of the National District Investigation Courts, to order the nullity of the final files settled in the last records of lawyer Jean Alain Rodríguez.

That decision was in favor of former lawmakers Ruddy González and Julio César Valentín; the current President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the interim president of the PLD, Temístocles Montás; Máximo D’Oleo; Radhamés Segura and Bernardo Castellanos

Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht admitted that it paid $ 92 million in bribes in the country in exchange for obtaining numerous works.
