Buffalo Bills crushes New England Patriots to beat Bill Belichick’s team for the first time since 1999

Not anymore. Thanks to their franchise-record-breaking superstars Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, the Bills gave the Patriots a taste of their own medicine on Monday.

A week after the Patriots were finally dethroned from the top of the AFC East division, the Bills beat the Patriots 38-9, with Allen tossing four touchdown passes – three of them to Diggs – to help Buffalo join the first AFC East team. two decades to be that wipe New England.

The win at Gillette Stadium means the Bills have a record of 12-3 for the final week of the regular season and remain in second place in the AFC.

“We have one game left. And all of that, it’s cool, the records, this and that,” Allen said afterwards.

“But the plan is to make it 13-3 and give ourselves a chance in the playoffs. It doesn’t say much if we don’t get it done.”

In the win, both Allen and Diggs went about setting franchise records for one season for touchdown passes and receiving yards, respectively.

Allen now has 34 touchdown passes, breaking Jim Kelly’s franchise record for one season. Hall-of-Famer Kelly congratulated the 24-year-old on his achievement.

Diggs taunts the New England Patriots defenders as he runs into the end zone for a touchdown.
“CONGRATULATIONS Josh !!! Keep breaking records and winning games! Keep doing your thing! Proud of you! Let’s Go Buffalo !!” he said on Twitter.
Diggs had nine catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns, institution a record for one season for receiving yards.

Since joining the Patriots, head coach Bill Belichick has had nothing but success, winning six Super Bowls.

However, after legendary quarterback Tom Brady’s departure to Tampa Bay in the summer, the Patriots have had a hard time sledging.

With 2015 MVP Cam Newton at the helm, they have a 6-9 record and defeat to the Bills secured their first losing season since 2000.

After throwing just 34 yards and running for a touchdown, Newton was pulled for backup Jarrett Stidham in the third quarter, though he wasn’t much luckier, completing 4-of-11 passes for 44 yards.

With such a poor performance from both quarterbacks, Belichick declined to name who would start at quarterback for the Patriots in Week 17.

“The game was over about 10, 15 minutes ago,” said Belichick. “We worked on this game, we played the game. Obviously I have no plans for next week. The game is 15 minutes old.”
