Nearly 2 million Americans have received the COVID-19 vaccine

ORLANDO, Fla. – As vaccinations continue this week, nearly 2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide in the past two weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

US officials said their goal was to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of December, although health experts believe the timeline could be cut short as the New Year is just days away.

“There is no doubt that things are going a little slower than we want. I think we really need to ramp up vaccinations. Bring the vaccines to the states, but also get the vaccines from the states into the arms of the people, ”said Dr. Ashish Jha from Brown University’s School of Public Health.

Last week, the Trump administration announced through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense the purchase of 100 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Florida DOH Vaccination Report, 118,764 vaccinations have been administered in the state so far.

In Orange County, data showed that a total of 11,963 people have been vaccinated.
