NBA Officiating: Oh, hey, sorry about that, Bulls

Oh, sure … NOW YOU SAY SOMETHING.

Remember how last night’s game against the Warriors ended? Of course you do. It was the first game of the year in which the Bulls had an actual chance of winning at the start of the fourth quarter. But just in case you missed the ending (or blocked it altogether), the Warriors did so just after Zach LaVine gave the Bulls a (very) late one-point lead:

Ball game.

Except … it really shouldn’t have been. According to the NBA’s last two-minute report:

NOT ONLY should there have been a five second offense, Kevon Looney * also * committed an offensive foul by portraying Coby White, which you can see quite clearly in this longer video of the final piece:

I mean come on! Looney basically knocked White to the ground.

You hate blaming the referees – and maybe the Bulls shouldn’t have let it get ANYWAY so close – but when there are TWO different ways the other team should have blown it up but got away with it, it’s hard to digest. Especially when you consider how blatantly obvious both calls were (how do you miss a five second violation … come on). This is all compounded by the fact that the next two weeks on the Bulls schedule look TOUGH. This was perhaps their best shot at an early victory, and it was taken from them. Twice.

Sigh. What are you going to do?
