Google users around the world encountered a bug last week when opening Google Assistant. The bug prevented users from accessing Google Assistant, not just Android smartphones. Now, Google is known to have fixed this bug.
For those of you who aren’t sure what exactly happened, here’s a quick recap: In the past week, some Google Assistant users were unable to access the virtual assistant on their devices.
In the case of the smart screens, both Nest devices and third-party devices, users couldn’t get around the white splash screen. According to a report by 9To5 Google, smart screen users reported seeing Google Assistant’s four dots spinning endlessly. On the other hand, smart speaker users with Google Assistant reported that the speaker said “something went wrong” or “there is a malfunction” rendering all these devices useless.
Likewise, the smartphone app on Android and iOS kept showing the message ‘Google is currently unable to reach’. The report said that while some users were able to have their voices transcribed, others were not.
What was worrisome was neither removing the latest update in the case of the mobile app, nor resetting the hardware in the case of the smart speakers and smart screens seemed to help. This, according to the report, happened because of the problems with the Google account. Google was aware of the problem earlier in the day, according to a post on its community forum, and was working to fix it.
Now the message is that the company has solved the problem. While the issue was automatically resolved for most users, others received a call from Google Nest giving them a code to tag feedback.
