About 30 houses were flooded after the Monga River flooded

Residents of the Las Lomitas sector in Olanchito Municipality, Yoro, are alarmed after registering floods due to the flooding of the Monga River.

About 30 homes in this site have been affected so far, and members of the fire department have moved to the area to conduct evacuations.

According to residents, the river is flooded in its lower part due to the constant rain caused by the cold air that hits the land.

“This area is not flooded, but after Eta and Iota it has become one of the most vulnerable in the area,” explains one of the residents.

According to Rolando Ruiz, second lieutenant of the fire brigade, the affected families were evacuated.

“At around 2 am, heavy rain fell in the area and caused the level of the river to rise and flood from the lower part.”

Those affected were transferred to a community center in the community to protect their lives.

The 80 families of this colony must remain alert to the conditions that this phenomenon entails in the country.
