Jon Huber, professional wrestler known as Luke Harper and Brodie Lee in WWE and AEW, dies at the age of 41 from ‘non-COVID-related lung problems,’ his wife says.

PHILADELPHIA – Professional wrestler Jon Huber, known in the ring as both Luke Harper and Mr. Brodie Lee, died Saturday at the age of 41, according to World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

Huber wrestled for WWE and more recently for All-Elite Wrestling (AEW). His wife, Amanda Huber, said on Instagram that her husband “passed away surrounded by loved ones after an uphill battle with a non-COVID-related lung problem.” According to Huber’s wife, he was treated by doctors at the Mayo Clinic.

Amanda Huber wrote:

‘My best friend passed away today.

I never wanted to write those words out. My heart is broken. The world saw him as the awesome @brodielee (formerly Luke Harper) but he was my best friend, my husband and the best dad you would ever meet. There are no words that can express the love I feel or how broken I am now. He passed surrounded by loved ones after a hard-fought battle with an un-Covid-related lung problem. The @mayoclinic is literally the best team of doctors and nurses in the world who surround me with constant love. “

“In an industry full of good people, Jon Huber was exceptionally respected and loved in every way – a fierce and engaging talent, a thoughtful mentor and just a very kind soul who starkly contradicted his personality as Mr. Brodie Lee,” AEW wrote in a statement. tribute to Huber.

WWE said Huber had “success at every stop of his sports entertainment career as his soft-spoken but imposing presence helped him create countless awe-inspiring moments in the ring.”

Huber wrestled for WWE for eight years, most of that time as a member of the Wyatt Family, before debuting for AEW in March as the leader of The Dark Order faction.

Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, said, “I’m very sorry for the loss of Jon Huber. We bonded over the love of our children. He was a true family man.”

AEW President Tony Khan said: “I am devastated by the loss of Jon Huber, known to fans as Mr. Brodie Lee, formerly Luke Harper. Jon was a wonderful man. His family came first, his loving wife Amanda and his wife. their sons Brodie + Nolan. He loved wrestling and was great at it, he loved your fans. Please keep him in your heart. “

Huber is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion and SmackDown Tag Team Champion in WWE. He won the TNT Championship in AEW.

He leaves behind his wife and two children.
