AstraZeneca claims to have found the “winning formula” for its vaccine

London.- AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Executive Director Pascal Soriot assures the lab has found the ‘winning formula’ to ensure its COVID-19 vaccine has an effectiveness comparable to that produced by Pfizer / BioNTech, at 95% , and modern, with 94%.

“We believe we have found the winning formula to achieve an effectiveness that, after two doses, is as high as any other,” Soriot explained to the Sunday “Sunday Times” of the doses his company partnered with the drug. University of Oxford develops.

However, Soriot declined to provide further details pending publication of the results of new tests shortly.

AstraZeneca and Oxford published preliminary results of their clinical study in two groups in November: one received two full doses of the vaccine, with a result of 62% effectiveness, while the other received half a dose followed by a full dose for one month . later, with an effectiveness of 90%.

According to the Sunday Times, the Oxford and AstraZeneca vaccine – much cheaper and easier to keep than those from Moderna and Pfizer – will receive UK regulatory approval this week, so it is expected to begin inoculating in the first days of January.

Soriot believes his vaccine “should be effective” with the new strains of the virus, but acknowledges that “they are not sure,” so additional studies will be needed.

Coincidentally, the pharmacist and laboratory in Oxford are already working on new versions of the vaccine in case they might be needed.
