In the first phase of the Christmas operation “Commitment for Life 2020”, 11 deaths were recorded within the operation as a result of 107 road accidents.
This became Saturday andhe Director of the Operations and Emergency Center (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez, who reported that there were 8 more deaths recorded outside the operation, out of a total of 19 deaths.
“11 people died in the device on the main roads of the country and eight more people died outside the operation,” the general explained in the latest report of the first phase of the Christmas operation.
In the accidents registered in different streets, avenues and motorways of the national territory as well 159 people were affected.
Of the 107 registered accidents, 84 involved motorcycles, 21 light vehicles, 4 run-over and 4 heavy vehicles.
Poisons
While it reported that a total of 245 people were intoxicated by alcohol, including six minors between the ages of 14 and 17.
98 people were also treated for food poisoning.
The provinces that have reported more cases of intoxication are: Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago, San Cristóbal and La Vega.
The second Christmas operation called “Commitment for Life” will begin next Wednesday, December 30 at 2pm and will end on January 1, 2021 at 6pm.
