Kentucky is already falling short with two players in sophomore forward Keion Brooks Jr. (injury) and freshman forward Cam’Ron Fletcher (suspension), but will they come out a third when the team heads to Louisville on Saturday to take on the Cardinals?
Head coach John Calipari says the Wildcat has left one player on the rotation due to an injury, although the hope is that he can return to the practice floor today.
As for who that player is, Calipari was unwilling to spill the beans.
“We still injured one player. I’m not going to tell you, ”said Calipari. ‘I hope he can practice a bit today. When you have that, it takes away even more. But we are not alone. There are no excuses here. “
Leading up to Kentucky’s loss to North Carolina last weekend, Calipari noted that a few players were out with “some stuff,” preventing the team from scoring all week.
“We have not been able to score in the past few days,” he said at the time. ‘We’ve had some guys with some stuff. But the guys there got better. “
And after the loss, the British head coach added that the players who were unable to practice were the ones who looked worst during the game, a change he will have to make in the future. If a player can’t practice in the days leading up to the game, he probably won’t need to start the next time he plays.
“We had some guys who didn’t practice this week, and you can probably see who hasn’t played that they can play,” said Calipari. “You can say,” It was this man and this man. “So in order to practice, if you’re not, you probably have to get off the couch. You can’t be a starter, you’re the other guy.”
Will this injury cause the Wildcats to get even more shorthand against the Cardinals this weekend?
